Kasilof resident Emory Franklin “Frank” Arndt, Jr., 56, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at his home.

Memorial services are at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Ninilchik Fairgrounds in Ninilchik. Pastor Ron Lambert will officiate. Additional services will be held in Montrose, Colo., at a later date.

Frank was born Feb. 16, 1957, in Alamosa, Colo. He graduated from Montrose High School Class of 1975. He served in the U.S. Army from 1975-80. 

He was a diesel mechanic for Schneider’s Ready Mix, Diesel Truck Service and for Western Gravel in Montrose until moving to Alaska in 1991.

He lived in Anchorage and Eagle River before moving to Palmer in 1995. He worked for European Motors and Anchorage Chrysler until moving to Kasilof in 1996. There he worked for Kenai Chrysler and Peninsula Tank. He retired in 2008.

Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, welding and crafting with his hands.

He was a member of the Lighthouse Independent Baptist Church.

“He loved the Lord, his family and the state of Alaska,” his daughter Pam said.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Charlotte Arndt (Rice);  son, Michael Roy; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Wanema Arndt; daughter, Pamela Arndt, both of Kasilof, Alaska; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Arndt and Katie Baker of Palmer; parents, Emory and Julia Arndt of Montrose, Colo.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Gary Becker of Maricopa, Ariz., Gayla and Arnie Michaud of Delta, Colo., and Marylouise and John Dannels of Cedaredge, Colo.; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

His children request rather than donations, spend time with family and tell them that you love them.

Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
