Homer wins Best Western Bidarka Round Robin Rumble

The Homer wrestling team won the Best Western Bidarka Round Robin Rumble on Friday and Saturday in Homer with 281 points. Grace Christian was runner-up with 203.5.

Also from the Kenai Peninsula, Kenai Central was third with 186.5 and Soldotna was fourth with 117.

The Homer boys received championships from Luca Fitzpatrick at 112 pounds, Zayne Adams at 140, Paul Minke at 145 and Brayden Woods at 160.

Also for the Mariners boys, Lucien Faucher was fifth at 112, Asher Faucher was sixth at 125, Jadon Weisser was fifth at 130, Eddie Uwekoolani was fourth at 130, Rod Stokes was fifth at 135, Daniel Kulikov was second at 135, Oriley Richardson was fourth at 140, Justus Grimes was second at 145, Landyn Woods was second at 152, Isaiah Mann was second at 171, Alexander Van Meter was fifth at 171, Gaius Taylor was third at 189, Adgel Chandler was third at 215 and Shea Yatchmeneff was third at 285.

Winning titles for the Homer girls were Christabelle Minke at 126 and Saoirse Cook at 138.

Also for the Mariners girls, Ryan Alcorta was fourth at 138 and Kya Stokes was third at 152.

Winning titles for the Kenai boys were Kaiser DesOrmeaux at 130, Daniel Steffensen at 152, Thaddeus Lingenfelter at 189 and Lochlyn Roney at 285.

Also for the Kenai boys, Chase Johnson was fourth at 119, Atlas Ruark was fourth at 171, Bryce Jolicoeur was fourth at 189, Brandon Blake was second at 215 and Cecil Newcomb-Hammer was second at 285.

Rylee Trent nabbed a title for the Kenai girls at 152, while Jadeyn Jacko finished third.

For the Soldotna boys, Jaden Yeager was second at 125, Jace Gilliam was second at 130 and Clayton McDonald was seventh at 160.

Nikiski finishes 3rd at Bethel Invitational

The Nikiski wrestling team finished third at the Bethel Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 and 9.

The Student Wrestling Development Program girls and boys scored a total of 332.5 points, while Bethel was the runner-up at 165.5. Nikiski had 135.

The Nikiski girls got a championship from Braylynn Young at 138 pounds.

For the Bulldogs boys, Noah Playle was fourth at 130, Jaxson Young was third at 135, Wyatt Maguire was second at 140, Darren Powell was fourth at 140, Trigger McCaughey was second at 152, Sloan Wittmer was fourth at 152, Brody Nelson was second at 160, Mason Doth was second at 171, Rex Wittmer was second at 215 and Breaker Schmitt was third at 285.
