The Kardinals celebrated their senior night by sweeping the Mariners in Southcentral Conference play to finish 10-0 in the league and 14-0 in nontournament play. The Mariners finish 4-6 in the league.
The scores were 25-10, 25-13 and 25-19.
Hansen had 23 digs, while Selanoff had 13 and Wisnewski had 10.
Tapley had 14 kills, while Avia Miller had seven and Ellsi Miller had six.
Wisnewski had 32 assists, while Avia Miller had three aces and Gracee Every had two.
The Kardinals honored seniors Wisnewski, Tait Cooper, Avia Miller, Selanoff, Baisden and manager Kaylauna Gump.
Beck said senior night is always bittersweet.
“They’re so fun to have,” she said of the seniors. “They’re so responsible. They’re the ones making sure the buses are clean and the expectations of our program continue to live on.
“They’re just awesome kids. Every year it’s so exciting to see what they do in their next adventure, but it’s hard every year to lose seniors.”
Nikiski 3, Homer 0
The host Bulldogs finished 8-2 in the conference with a 25-17, 25-16 and 25-16 victory.
Kailey Stynsberg had 13 digs for the Bulldogs, while Evelyn Reichert had 11.
Avery Ellis had 21 assists, while Ashlynne Playle and Blakeley Jorgensen each had eight kills, and Mandee Roofe added seven.
Alexa Iyatunguk had five blocks, while Playle had four blocks and Roofe had three blocks.
Reichert had five aces, while Playle had four.
Seward wins Whalers Invitational
The Seward volleyball team won the Whalers Invitational on Saturday in Barrow.
The Seahawks defeated Barrow in the championship game, then also had to defeat the Whalers in the if-necessary game.
Mikinley Williams, Jordan Hartman and Kyana Hutchinson made the all-tournament team for Seward.
