Diamond Creek trail reopened for public use

Diamond Creek Trail is open again for public use, Kachemak Bay State Park Trails Specialist Eric Clarke announced Wednesday.

Mudslides resulting from heavy rains on Oct. 11 previously washed out a portion of the trail’s upper leg.

According to Clarke, the slide area has been roped off and a new trail has been brushed out around it. Lower down on the trail, there are two additional areas where mud from slide events has collected. Clarke said that these areas “have solidified and are passable.”

Trail users should use caution and be aware that trail conditions can change with more rain events and ice occurring from freezing temperatures.
