South Peninsula Hospital’s Rehabilitation Department relocated to two new locations on Tuesday, Sept. 24 after several decades of offering physical, occupational and speech therapies under one roof.

Outpatient orthopedic, physical and occupational therapy are now offered at 3726 Lake St., offering orthopedic, post-surgery, hand therapy, pelvic floor, lymphedema and vertigo treatments, according to a Sept. 20 press release from SPH.

The release also states that all physical, occupational and speech therapies and treatments previously offered at the hospital will be temporarily moved to a new location on the lower level of the SPH building at 4300 Bartlett St.

“This is a temporary move while infrastructure repairs and needs are addressed,” the release says.

Services being relocated within the SPH building include speech therapy for adults and children; pediatric occupational and physical therapy; treatments for individuals receiving multiple therapies after experiencing a stroke or head injury or have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease or other neurological issues; treatments for acute care patients and nursing home residents; and job function testing, pre-work screenings and functional capacity evaluations.

Appointment location will be determined by a patient’s individual need and provider expertise, the release says. Patients will be informed of their care location when they schedule appointments.
