Voter tidbit: Get prepared for the Oct. 1 municipal election

Check your voting status or register to vote online by Aug. 31

Information about our Kenai Peninsula Borough/city elections on Tuesday, Oct. 1:

Elections are for city council seats in Seldovia, Homer, Kachemak City, Soldotna, Kenai and Seward. Additionally, Homer will vote for a mayor and the southern peninsula will vote on one bond proposition. Everyone will vote on borough candidates running for borough assembly, school board and service area boards.

The deadline to register to vote for this election is Sept. 1. Go to voterregistration.alaska.gov.

Absentee in-person voting begins on Sept. 16. Find your location here www.kpb.us/assembly-clerk/elections/absentee-voting-information.

The deadline for the absentee ballot application is Sept. 24. Go to https://my.kpb.us/users/sign_in.

The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot by fax is Sept. 30.

Polls are open for in-person voting on Oct. 1 from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Go to https://myvoterportal.alaska.gov/.
