Auditions for the 2024 Homer Nutcracker production will take place on Saturday, Aug. 24. Those auditioning must register online prior to the registration period closing on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
The auditions will be held at the Homer High School Mariner Theatre starting at 10 a.m. All are welcome; auditioners should arrive 15 minutes prior to their audition time.
A mandatory class for pointe dancers to evaluate en point technique will be held on Friday, Aug. 23 from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Results will be posted on the theater’s west side door on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
All high schoolers, as well as others auditioning for a featured part, are required to submit a one-page essay telling Nutcracker production staff what inspired their desire to participate, according to the Homer Nutcracker website. Returning dancers should include their takeaway from previous years and where they see themselves going forward.
All auditioning high school girls and intermediate dancers should prepare a solo dance, which should be no longer than 2.5 minutes.
All children aged younger than high school should submit a drawing that shows what Nutcracker means to them in addition to their scheduled audition time.
The upcoming audition schedule for the 2024 Homer Nutcracker Production is as follows:
Girls and boys, ages 5-7: 10-11 a.m.
Girls and boys, ages 8-10: 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Girls, ages 11-13: 12:45-1:45 p.m.
Boys, ages 11-17: 2:30-3 p.m.
Partner Class, boys and girls ages 12 and up: 3-3:30 p.m.
Girls, ages 14-18 and intermediate girls, ages 11-13: 3:45-4:30 p.m.
Solos: 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Adults: 5:30-6 p.m.
