BEST KIDS’ GARDENING BET: The Homer Public Library is hosting a gardening workshop for kids on Tuesday, June 4 from 1:30-3 p.m. as part of their Summer@HPL series of events. No registration is required. All ages are welcome; children preschool-aged or younger must be with a caregiver. Kids will learn about making a garden and planting seeds as they help to create a garden at the library. On Tuesday, learn how to make pole bean tents. The Library Advisory Board is conducting a review of library services and activities. Your comments, both positive and negative, will inform the library’s plans and goals over the coming years. BEST CITIZEN SCIENCE BET: Sandhill crane colts will soon hatch in Homer. Crane colts and other baby wildlife are very vulnerable, so please keep your dogs on leashes and cats at home. As part of its Citizen Science projects, Kachemak Crane Watch keeps track of nesting success and wants your observations of Sandhill Crane colts.
