Dooroo Kim, daughter of Jeeyoung and Youra Kim of Atlanta, Ga., and William Singhose, nephew of Beaver and Jessie Nelson of Homer, were married on July 22, 2013.

The outdoor ceremony was held at the Nelson home with Ron Simmons of Springfield, Ore., officiating the ceremony.

The bride graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a master’s in mechanical engineering and worked at the Raytheon Company on the Patriot Missile defense system. She is currently a doctorate degree candidate.

The groom graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering and is an engineering professor at Georgia Tech.

About 50 of the 60 guests made their first trip to Alaska to attend the wedding and some came from as far away as Afghanistan and China.

After a Hawaiian honeymoon, the couple will make their home in Atlanta.
