The Kenai Regional Office for Alaska State Parks is accepting applications for vacancies on three Kenai Peninsula area citizen advisory boards, the Department of Natural Resources announced last Thursday.

According to a press release, citizen advisory boards provide park managers with recommendations on state park management decisions. There are vacancies on the boards for the Kenai Special Management Area, Kachemak Bay State Park and Seward State Parks.

Those selected for the open positions will serve a three-year term beginning July 2024 and expiring in June 2027. The release says that boards “typically meet once per month from September to May.”

“Alaska State Parks really values input from the 11 advisory boards that work across the state to assist with regional park operations, land management, and development challenges,” Ricky Gease, director of the Division of Parks & Outdoor Recreation, said in the release. “Advisory boards are valuable public forums to better understand and work through any issues, so that we keep our Alaska State Parks accessible and safe for all users. These Alaskans are critical partners for our superintendents, rangers, parks specialists, and the rest of the team at the Division of Parks & Outdoor Recreation.”
