As part of the ongoing local events in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Homer Theatre will be hosting a special screening of the documentary, “Mom & Dad’s Nipple Factory,” on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Admission for this event is free, though donations are welcome. Raised funds will go to support the Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic in their efforts to keep breast exams and reproductive health care affordable and accessible for all, according to the KBFPC website. “Mom & Dad’s Nipple Factory” is a documentary by Emmy-award-winning filmmaker Justin Johnson, also known as Justinsuperstar, who has been creating popular content for TV and the web for nearly two decades, according to his website, justinsuperstar.com/.

The film follows the story of when Johnson’s mother Randi is diagnosed with breast cancer, “her introverted husband Brian, a traditional family man, transforms their modest Midwest home into a secret prosthetic nipple laboratory, an act of love that blossoms into a truly unexpected business, kept hidden from their church, small-town community, and five unsuspecting children.”

“Mom & Dad’s Nipple Factory” began its national tour this month as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ahead of its digital release in 2024.
