It’s the time of the year that we ask gardeners to plant a row for the Food Pantry. Now that Saturday Market has their fresh vegetables available, don’t forget to grab a few and place them in our food tub which is located under the main tent on the south side. Vegetables are in high demand on Mondays. Also, as you clean out your freezer, getting ready for this year’s catch, please remember we need fish and whatever meat you want to share. We’ve been quite short on vegetables and meat these past few months. Thank you everyone, for being such great sharers.
The Homer Community Food Pantry is most grateful to the Homer City Council for their General Operating Support Award administered by the Homer Foundation. It is a blessing that our city sees the importance of supporting the non-profit sector. Thank you for helping us help so many others. We are in this together.
We also appreciate the Chamber of Commerce sharing hot dogs and buns left from Clean-up Day. We used up the box of food and fish that was collected that very day. The Letter Carriers collected close to 300 pounds of food from their yearly collection from our community. Wow!! Thank you all for your generosity and support, you have no idea how much your giving helps.
Say! Have you been to Save-U-More lately and checked out Share-o-saurus? This winter he underwent repairs and was updated to “Ultra-Share-o-saurus? thanks to Brad Hughes’ creative genius.
Things the Pantry needs: We desperately need a pick up person for Tuesdays and Wednesdays this fall for 1-2 hours before 10 a.m. to collect food from Safeway and Save-U-More. It’s an important job because we can’t serve folks without these items. We also need tens, pectin and jelly jars. Please call 235-1968 if you can help or drop your donated items in our tub located on the east side of the church at the bottom of the ramp. We all want thank you for your continued support and help. “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Helen Keller
