An Anchorage resident died Sunday morning after being struck by a car on the Sterling Highway near Happy Valley, south of Ninilchik.
According to a dispatch from Alaska State Troopers, they were notified of the collision around 4 a.m., and responded to find that Jacob Foster, a 42-year-old Homer resident, had been traveling south toward Homer when he struck Michael Morgan, a 68-year-old from Anchorage, “at highway speeds.”
Morgan had been dressed in black and walking in the center of the lane, the dispatch says. First aid was “immediately rendered” but was unsuccessful.
Investigation into the collision is ongoing.
