Beverly Ann Buck, 82, passed peacefully on February 8, 2023, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.
Beverly was born in Billings, Montana on October 7, 1940, to Harold and Hazel Stevenson. She was a graduate of Billings Senior High in 1958 and attended Billings Business College. Bev worked at First National Bank as a young woman. Later she was employed at Metropolitan Life Agricultural and Loan in Billings.
Beverly moved to Homer, Alaska in June 1998 with her husband, Charles L. Buck. Bev loved the Lord, and her faith was very important to her. In Billings, she was a member of Evangelical United Brethren, Faith Evangelical, and Hope Evangelical Churches. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher of elementary children for many years. Beverly belonged to the International Christian’s Womens Club, later becoming a facilitator of which, she was very proud. Beverly loved reading her Bible and listening to spiritual music.
In Homer, Bev visited many people in the long-term care unit. Bev related to each individual on a personal level in order to uplift their spirits. She gave her love to the people of the Senior Center where she and her husband, Charles, played ukulele with HUGS. Bev also volunteered with Hospice and served as an information guide at the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge in Homer, Alaska.
Beverly loved her life in Homer, Alaska with a view overlooking Kachemak Bay. While living there, she was stimulated to take art classes through the University. Bev studied her family’s genealogy and produced both a book of her ancestry and a memoir of her life. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and cooking for family and friends. Beverly’s Alaska home remains a gallery of her artwork, writing, quilting, and sewing creations.
Beverly was married for 62 years to her loving husband Charles. She was a devoted mother, grandmother to 7, great-grandmother to 1, and a loving wife. Beverly emulated talent, creativity, leadership, and passion in all that she accomplished.
Beverly is survived by husband, Charles Lewis Buck of Homer, AK; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Buck of Bostic, NC; and sons Charles Loren Buck of Flagstaff, AZ; and Jonathan David Buck of Spindale, NC.
Beverly is preceded in death by parents, Harold and Hazel Stevenson and brother, Harold Richard Stevenson.
A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held at her home for family and close friends.
