The Homer Mariner XC ski team competed in the Region 3 ski championship races in Palmer, Alaska hosted by the Palmer Moose on Feb. 10 and 11. Participating schools included Colony, Grace Christian, Homer, Kenai, Nikiski, Palmer, Seward, Soldotna, and Su-Valley.
Classic skiers competed on a 5 kilometer course the first day and skate was 7.5 kilometers for the boys and 5 kilometers for girls on the second day. Colony boys and girls both received first place at the meet. Homer skiers did well and when they head to the state competition they have “the potential to be the winning team because Colony is not in the same state division as Homer,” coach Jessie Goodrich said. Homer girls placed 5th overall and boys finished 2nd overall.
