An annual “one-stop shop” offering resources from those experiencing housing instability will take place Tuesday, Jan. 31, in Homer and Anchor Point.

Formerly called Homeless Connect, the Community Resource Connect (CRC) is a free, one-day event intended for those who are homeless, at risk of being homeless, or for those in need of extra support for their daily living situation.

The event, now in its fifth year, offers resources, connections to assistance and necessary supplies, including emergency gear, backpacks, comfort packs, laundry and shower vouchers, food, sleeping bags and hygiene kits. More than 20 vendors will provide health screenings, information, enrollment to services and more.

Sponsored by a coalition of local nonprofit agencies and community members, in conjunction with the Kenai Peninsula Project Homeless Connect, the event will take place from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in two locations on the southern Kenai Peninsula: the SPARC at 600 Sterling Highway in Homer, and at the Anchor Point Food Pantry next to the Anchor River Inn Store in Anchor Point.

A point-in-time homeless count and data collection will happen at these events, as part of a nationwide point-in-time homeless count. Free transportation is offered to and from both locations. In Homer call 907-399-8008; in Anchor Point call 907-299-2188.
