Kevin Bell Arena reopens for skaters

An inactive liability insurance policy forced its closure earlier this month

After an inactive liability insurance policy forced its closure earlier this month, the Kevin Bell Arena is now open again.

Homer Hockey Association Communications Director Meg Cicciarella said that closing the rink was the responsible action.

With its reopening, a number of programs are again available.

For adults there are hockey 101 sessions for beginners happening every Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 6:45 p.m. Drop-in women’s hockey games with the “Divas” take place Monday and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Men’s hockey games take place on Tuesday and Thursday at 8:15 p.m. Novice league games are scheduled for Friday evenings, and adult co-ed league games take place on Saturdays at 6:30 p.m.

Additionally, there are youth programs happening all week long, ranging from the youngest Microbell skaters at 4 p.m. on Sundays, to the 16U team.

And if you want to just stop by to skate around, with or without stick and pucks, there are Stick Time opportunities Monday through Friday at 3 p.m.

The arena’s dynamic schedule can be found at the Kevin Bell Arena’s website, kevinbellarena.org.
