Steven Bradley Walter

Steven Bradley Walter passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, in Homer, Alaska. He had courageously endured a battle with ALS.

Steve was born May 29, 1954. He was the son of Maer and Arline Walter. He had two sisters. Steve grew up in Southern California and spent his childhood fishing with his friends. His passion was fishing. Steve got his Captain’s license in 1979 and ran charter boats in Southern California. He was very respected as a Captain and as a Fishing Buddy.

Steve was a dedicated father to his children, Melissa and Jay. They enjoyed many fishing trips and spending time together. The family moved to Utah where he worked for Parker Hannifin as an Assembly Technician. He worked hard and became an expert in his field. Steve was respected and loved by those who knew and worked with him. His big smile, friendly nature and his fishing stories made him unforgettable.

In 2015, Steve met Carol Robinson, the love of his life. They were married a year later. He quickly retired to spend time with her. They made their home in Hansville, Washington where they enjoyed being back by the ocean. Steve and Carol purchased a boat and began spending their summers fishing for Halibut in Homer. Everyone loved fishing with Steve, especially the grandchildren. Alaska was Steve’s dream, so in 2021 they moved to Homer. Steve could no longer fish but he enjoyed the moose in the yard, the long summer days and fun movie nights with the grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Carol and his children: Melissa (Jacob) Newbom, Jay (Rachel), stepchildren: Camielle (Loren) Hamlin, Michelle (Jordan) High, Shea (Madilyn) Robinson, and 15 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters: Louise Walter and Judy Walter, and his Niece Julie (Ken) Rush. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Steve requested no memorial service but wanted to remind everyone to hold their loved ones close and to enjoy every moment of their lives – and to fish as much as they can!
