Last Friday afternoon’s 34th Annual SoHi Pentathlon at Soldotna High School meet featured a little bit of new and a little bit of old.
The new was Kodiak sophomore Marina Cummisky snapping a four-year streak of Lindquists owning the girls Pentathlon challenge, as Jori and Tahna Lindquist combined to win every year since 2011. Both Lindquist sisters are now graduated.
The old was Kodiak continuing its dominance in the meet, as Cummisky was joined by Bears teammate Talon Lindquist, who defended his boys Pentathlon title from last year, although maybe that could be included with the new, since Talon is still only a sophomore.
Kodiak won the boys team title with 50 points, seven ahead of runner-up Soldotna, while Colony took the girls team title with 47 points, 10 better than second-place Soldotna.
Homer boys finished in fourth place; the girls in fifth.
Lauren Kuhns and Sergius Hannan had the best performances for Homer. Kuhns came in third for the girls at 3:09.70; Hannan finished eighth for the boys at 2:47.78.
