Homer High School:

Friday, Oct. 13 — Volleyball at Grace Christian School: C-Team 4 p.m., JV 5 p.m. and Varsity 6:30 p.m. Swim and Dive team competes at Palmer.

Saturday, Oct. 14 — PSAT at 8:30 a.m. Wrestling competes at Kenai at 10:30 a.m. The Swim and Dive meet at Palmer continues at 10:30 a.m. Volleyball plays at Seward: C-Team 11 a.m., JV noon, Varsity 1:30 p.m. Varsity Football plays against Barrow at Palmer for the State Championships at 11:30 a.m.

Green Dot will be hosting their fall bystander training Monday, Oct. 16. If you are interested please see Mrs. Reiske or Mrs. Felice. This is a great opportunity to learn how to be an active bystander and how to put Green Dot into practice. Remember; we can’t do everything but we can all do something.

Homer Middle School:

Homer Flex:

McNeil Canyon Elementary:

Drama club will be on Mondays and Thursdays after school, starting Thursday, Oct. 12 from 2:50-4:20pm. Students who live further out East End Road past McNeil, will be able to ride the bus home after Drama Club. Students who live toward town from McNeil will have to be picked up at 4:20 pm.

The McNeil Community Council will meet at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 in the Staff Lounge. All parents are invited to attend. It is especially important for Room Representatives to attend if at all possible.

The annual McNeil Canyon Elementary Fall Carnival will be held on from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27. This is a fun-filled evening for the whole family and community.

Order forms for school shirts are due by Oct. 20.

Student Council is sponsoring Twin Day on Friday, Oct. 13. Dress alike with someone and join the fun.

The KPBSD will have a District wide budget development presentation on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Homer Middle School.

Picture retakes will be on Thursday, Oct. 19. Please return the entire picture packet if you would like to have your child’s photo retaken. If your child was absent on Picture Day, or you didn’t get a chance to order photos, new order forms will be sent home before retake day.

First Quarter will be ending on Friday, Oct. 20. This is an in-service day for staff so there will be no school for students that day.

The KPBSD School Board has approved an early release (1.5 hours) for all schools six days per school year. The next one will occur on Wednesday, Oct. 25. McNeil Students will be released at 1:20 p.m. and buses will leave at 1:30 p.m. Your child will arrive home 1.5 hours earlier than usual.

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Thursday and Friday, October 26 and 27 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend at the scheduled time, please contact the school office to reschedule as soon as possible or no later than Oct. 23.

On Tuesday, Oct. 31, McNeil Canyon will once again participate in the National Mix It Up At Lunch Day. The Artists in the Schools program will be happening Oct. 30 through Nov. 10. The artist this year is Sarah Campen. Friday, Nov. 3 from 7-8 p.m., Sarah Campen will lead a Community Movement Activity/Dance here at McNeil. Then on Friday, Nov. 10 at 10:30 a.m., students will present an informance of what they have learned during this two week residency.
