Homer Electric Association Inc. members will see an increase of 4 percent in their monthly bills beginning Jan. 1, 2018.

According to a press release, HEA proposes to raise the Cost of Power Adjustment (COPA) rate from $0.06805 to $0.07077 per kilowatt hour, which is an increase of 4 percent. The COPA is adjusted on a quarterly basis and primarily reflects the cost of natural gas used to generate power for HEA members.

Based on an average residential use of 550 kilowatt hours a month, members would see a $1.49 increase in their bills.
