Dorothy Ellen Moore, 89, died peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2014.
Dorothy Ellen Moore was born July 17, 1924, in Denver, Colo., the daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Mary Ellen Corcoran. She grew up in Denver and graduated from South High. She married Harvey Elvin Moore on Aug.19, 1947. They raised their three children in the Denver area. Dorothy was a stay-at-home Mom until she went to work at the Denver U.S. Geological Survey in the 1970s. After living in Colorado and Nebraska, Harvey and Dorothy moved to Homer in 2004.
“She was known as much for her style and grace as she was for her good looks. Dorothy was easily recognized around Homer by her trademark hats and her long silver hair. Dorothy was devoted to her children and loved her dogs, particularly terriers. She was an excellent listener, enjoyed a good story and relished her morning cup of coffee,” her family said.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Elvin Moore; a son, Harvey E. Moore Jr.; two sisters, Elizabeth Carletti and Jacqueline Ann Sena; and two brothers, Jack Corcoran and Joey Corcoran.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her sister, Mary Jo McElroy of Kasilof; her daughter, Kathleen Sue Perez of North Platte, Neb., and her son, Timothy Joseph Moore of Homer, as well as 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
