Creative nonfiction writer Dave Atcheson reads from his work and gives a talk at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at Kachemak Bay Campus. Atcheson’s most recent book is “Dead Reckoning: Navigating a Life on the Last Frontier, Courting Tragedy on its High Seas,” a memoir of his days as a commercial fisherman. Atcheson also wrote Nationalk Geographic’s “Hidden Alaska: Bristol Bay,” “Beyond” and “Fishing Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula.” He has written for a variety of periodicals, including Outdoor Life, Boys’ Life, Alaska Magazine and Fish Alaska Magazine. A past president of the Renewable Resources Foundation, he also worked for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. His visit is part of the college’s visiting writers series.
