Alan Lee Ballance
April 25, 1951 – May 5, 2021
Mr. Alan Lee Ballance, 70, died Thursday, May 5, 2021, from congestive heart failure at his home with his family by his side.
American Legion Post 16 in Homer will provide a Post Everlasting Service for Alan at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 20. There have been numerous celebrations of life in many households in many states by those who knew, loved and respected him, and his service to our country. Wherever you are, if you wish and will, please continue to celebrate your goodwill felt toward him, his service and his living.
Alan was born April 25, 1951 in Pasadena, California. He served on many Navy ships and boats where he performed numerous metal-worthy duties for which he received a Certificate of Recognition from Donald Rumsfield for his Cold War Services. Alan acquired an assortment of degrees and certifications in electronics and communications. After many decades, Alan retired himself and his Ballance Systems Ent. communication business. Alan was president of the Bohemia Mine Owners Associations in Cottage Grove, Oregon, for about 10 years, ending in 1996. He fulfilled a lifelong dream when he was finally able to move to Alaska in 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thaxton and Virginia Ballance, and brother, Steve.
His ashes will be spread at sea by the Navy, and he will have a memorial marker in a national cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Alan to any trustworthy organization assisting homeless, wounded veterans and servicemen and servicewomen.
