Homer Police

April 5

Homer Police at 10:56 a.m. went to a report of a kayaker who overturned in Mud Bay off the Homer Spit with one person in the water and unable to get back into the vessle. The caller, another kayaker, reported strong currents. Homer Police, the Homer Harbormaster’s Office, Homer Fire and Alaska State Parks responded. Staff in the State Parks vessel first responded and pulled the hypothermic kayaker from the water. The kayaker was taken to South Peninsula Hospital. The second kayaker was assisted to land by the Harbormaster’s Office who then recovered both kayakers. The two kayakers were wearing personal flotation devices.

April 7

Police at issued a summons to a 33-year-old Homer woman for driving while license revoked.

April 9

Police at 10:11 p.m. received a report of an assault in the Homer area. Following an investigation, police arrested and charged a 53-year-old Homer man with first-degree attempted murder, two counts of kidnapping, first-degree assault, domestic violence, two counts of second-degree assault, domestic violence, resisting arrest, fifth-degree criminal mischief and vioating conditions of release. The man was taken to the Homer Jail.

Troopers

March 20

Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited a 29-year-old Homer man and a 28-year-old Homer man for retention of undersized Tanner crab.

March 31

Wildlife Troopers cited a 44-year-old Homer man for retention of undersized Tanner crab.
