Homer Flex School recently released its recipient of the Flex Phoenix Award for December — Torrie Kalmakoff.
Each month, the school staff pick a student to receive the Homer Flex Phoenix Award based on their embodiment of the school’s values: respect, ownership and productivity.
Junior Torrie Kalmakoff is a diligent student and a dedicated friend,” school staff wrote in a press release. “She not only works hard to complete her own work, but is always very encouraging toward her peers and their ability to succeed as well.”
“Torrie will often take the time to text other students who are missing from the zoom class, and is always willing to share something interesting during both school community and classroom discussions,” the release continues. “She has a great sense of humor, is a strong advocate for her needs, and a good mentor to other students. You can always count on Torrie to show up with a smile on her face, ready to do what needs to be done. We are very happy she has found a home at Flex.”
