The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 210 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, three of which were among nonresidents.

The state had also reported two additional deaths related to COVID-19 on Tuesday, those of an Anchorage resident and a Fairbanks resident.

There have now been a cumulative total of 61,913 COVID-19 cases in the state of Alaska, according to state data. Of those, 2,530 cases have been among nonresidents. A total of 308 Alaska resident deaths have been related to COVID-19, while four nonresidents have died with the disease while in Alaska.

As of Wednesday, there were 36 people being hospitalized in Alaska for COVID-19, as well as one additional person being hospitalized for a suspected case of the virus. According to the state’s hospital data dashboard, 4.2% of all people hospitalized in the state are being hospitalized for COVID-19.

There have been a cumulative total of 1,336 Alaska residents hospitalized for COVID-19 over the course of the pandemic, along with 40 nonresidents.

The southern Kenai Peninsula, measured from Ninilchik south, has had nine new cases of COVID-19 identified over the last 14 days. The peninsula as a whole has had 53 new cases of the virus identified over the last two weeks and remains in the intermediate alert level, according to the average case rate per capita.

Of the new cases announced Wednesday, there were 100 in Anchorage, 35 in Wasilla, 24 in the Bethel Census Area, 11 in Palmer, six each in Eagle River and Chugiak, four in North Pole, three each in Kenai, Delta Junction and Juneau, two in Fairbanks, and one each in Valdez, Soldotna, Healy, Big Lake, Houston, Willow, Wrangell, Unalaska, Bethel and the Matanuska-Susitna Valley.

Also reported Wednesday were three new nonresident cases — one in Anchorage, one in Fairbanks and one in an unknown region.

Testing on the Kenai Peninsula:

In Ninilchik, NTC Community Clinic is providing testing on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The testing is only for those traveling, symptomatic, needing testing for medical procedures, or with a known exposure after seven days. Only 20 tests will be offered per day. On the central peninsula, testing is available at Capstone Family Clinic, K-Beach Medical, Soldotna Professional Pharmacy, Central Peninsula Urgent Care, Peninsula Community Health Services, Urgent Care of Soldotna, the Kenai Public Health Center and Odyssey Family Practice. Call Kenai Public Health at 907-335-3400 for information on testing criteria for each location.

In Seward, testing is available at Providence Seward, Seward Community Health Center, Glacier Family Medicine and North Star Health Clinic.
