The varsity boys and girls Homer basketball teams swept the Nikiski Bulldogs last Thursday, before the Homer boys fell to Seward by just one point over the weekend.
Both Mariner teams topped Nikiski last Thursday in two home games, with the girls winning 53-28 and the boys winning 64-39.
Laura Inama led Homer in that game with 14 points, followed by Delilah Harris and Tonda Smude, who had eight each. Kinlee Jeffreys led the Bulldogs with 11 points.
For the Homer boys, it was their third victory over Nikiski. Carter Tennison led the way with 19 points, followed by Josiah Raymond with 12, Clayton Beachy with 11 and Parker Lowney with nine. For Nikiski, Drew Hadley has 14 points and Austin Stafford had 11.

Moving on to Saturday, the Homer girls continued their winning streak during an away game in Seward, topping the Seahawks 26-15. The win brought the Mariners to 6-3 overall this season, while Seward fell to 2-6.
For Homer, Mel Morris led with 10 points. For Seward, Lena Jagielski had seven.
The Homer boys were not so lucky, and fell to Seward by just one point in a 44-43 game. It marked the third straight win for the Seahawks, and dropped Homer to 7-2 overall. The Seward boys are now 5-3.
Tennison led the Mariners with 16 points, while Beachy had 12 and Lowney had nine. For Seward, Max Pfeiffenberger racked up 23 points.
