Homer Volunteer Fire Department

Feb. 1-8

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to four medical calls and seven fire calls.

Homer Police

Feb. 1

Homer Police got an after-the-fact report at 7:50 a.m. of a burglary at the Gear Shed. The caller reported that an unknown person gained entry into the building, accessed the ATM and stole funds from it.

Feb. 2

Homer Police got a report at 3:14 p.m. of a motor vehicle collision between a passenger vehicle and a semi truck on Baycrest Hill. Officers and medics went to the scene. The occupants of the passenger vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Feb. 3

Homer Police responded to a business that reported a shoplifter at 3:52 p.m. They issued a summons to a 32-year-old Homer man for fourth-degree theft.

Troopers

Feb. 2

At about 2:15 p.m., Alaska State Troopers were notified of a death which had occurred in Seldovia. The Seldovia police chief was out of town so Troopers responded to investigate. An investigation showed that a 75-year-old Seldovia man had died from natural causes.

Feb. 3

At about 10:45 a.m., Alaska State Troopers were notified of a death which had occurred in Seldovia. The Seldovia police chief was out of town so Troopers responded to investigate. An investigation showed that another 75-year-old Seldovia man died from natural causes.

Feb. 8

At approximately 12:17 a.m., Alaska State Troopers from Soldotna located a vehicle in the ditch near the intersection of North Cohoe Loop and Jason Drive. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old Ninilchik man for driving under the influence. He was remanded to Wildwood Pretrial.
