General announcements

All spectators must be on the player guest list. Two spectators per participant are allowed per game. The gym will be cleared after each contest. All spectators will wear a face covering and have a signed KPBSD COVID waiver.

All home game and events will be streamed on the Homer Mariners You Tube Channel.

Upcoming events

Drama, Debate and Forensics

Homer’s DDF team will compete virtually in the state championships this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from classrooms at Homer High School. The championships run from 2:30-9:45 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Hockey

The Homer hockey team travels for an away game at 7 p.m. this Friday against Soldotna High School.

Basketball

The Homer basketball teams will host games against Nikiski today. The games are at 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Then, the teams will travel to Seward for another away game at noon, 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Nordic skiing

The cross-country ski team will host a meet this Saturday at the Lookout Mountain Trails on Ohlson Mountain Road.

Nordic skiing

Homer’s cross-country ski team traveled to Kenai last weekend to compete in the Kenai Klassic. Skiers raced a 6.3-kilometer course at the Kenai Nordic Trails.

For the girls, Homer’s lead finisher in the classic race was Ireland Styvar, who took fourth with a time of 25 minutes, 32 seconds. The Mariners also got a seventh place finish from Zoe Stonorov. Eryn Field was 11th, Kara Super was 13th and Frida Renner took 15th.

For the boys race, Seamus McDonough was Homer’s top finisher in 11th place, with a time of 24:07.
