General announcements
All spectators must be on the player guest list. Two spectators per participant are allowed per game. The gym will be cleared after each contest. All spectators will wear a face covering and have a signed KPBSD COVID waiver.
All Homer events will be streamed on the Homer Mariners You Tube Channel.
Upcoming events
Hockey
The Homer hockey team will host the Kenai Kardinals at 7 p.m. this Friday at Kevin Bell Arena. This will be senior night. Then on Saturday, the Mariners will host Soldotna at 5 p.m. also at Kevin Bell Arena.
Basketball
Homer’s C teams will play Cook Inlet Academy on Friday. The girls play at 4 p.m. and the boys at 5:30 p.m. Then, the junior varsity and varsity teams play away games against Soldotna on Saturday. JV girls play at noon, JV boys at 1:30 p.m., varsity girls at 3 p.m. and varsity boys at 4:30 p.m.
Nordic skiing
The cross-country ski team will travel to Kenai for a meet at 11 a.m. this Saturday at the Kenai Golf Course.

Drama, Debate and Forensics
Homer High’s Drama, Debate and Forensics team had its last regional competition of the season on Jan. 29-30 against Anchorage schools. The results are as follows:
Service High School meet
Thea Person: Humorous Interpretation – 1st place
Eleanor Sweeney: Informative Speech 3rd place, Dramatic Interpretation – 1st place
Larry Dunn: Lincoln Douglas Debate – 1st place, Lincoln Douglas Debate speaker points – 1st place
Clara Stading: Solo acting – 4th place
Reader’s Theater by Eleanor Sweeney, Lexie Sweeney, Lacie Triem, Clara Stading, Seth Hammond and Thea Person – 1st place
Nordic skiing
Homer’s cross-country ski team traveled to compete in the Seward Ski Invitational this past weekend.
The meet consisted of teams from Homer, Kenai, Seward and Soldotna at the Mile 12 Ski Trails. Kenai and Soldotna skied on Friday while Homer and Seward skied Saturday. All teams skied separately, with team members collecting points by skiing as many loops of the provided trails as possible. The three different loops were worth five, three and one point, respectively.
A Soldotna team of Carter Cannava, Levi Mickelson and Avery Ciufo took first place with 80 points, just sneaking the win away from a Kenai team that had 79 points.
Homer’s top team of Eryn Field, Frida Renner and Elena Badajos took third place with 75 points, while the top Seward team took fourth with 73.
For the girls individual scores, Kenai’s Jayna Boonstra took first place with 29 personal points. For the boys, Soldotna’s Quinn Cox took first place for personal points with 34.
