This week All Homer area community members will be receiving a colorful postcard in their mailboxes and post office boxes. Don’t clump it with your adverts—open it up and check it out. The Southern Kenai Peninsula Resilience Coalition (SKPRC) needs your feedback.

For those of you who don’t know, the SKPRC is made up of health and human service organizations, individual community members, and other community groups focused on cultivating healthy relationships and resilient families, free from violence and substance misuse.

Several months ago, in response to COVID-19 and the safety measures surrounding the virus, the coalition came together to come up with some messages that would reassure community members during these tough times. Our goal was to let people know that they weren’t alone; that they are valued and that they too can make a difference in someone’s life.

Once we found the right messages, we wanted to get them out there for Homer community members to see. You probably have noticed them in a variety of spots around town. The SKPRC is now gathering community feedback on those messages. This is where you and that mailer your holding come into play.

We need you to let us know if you saw the signs and if they resonated with you. This mailer gives you the opportunity to share with us your opinion as well as give you a chance to win a $100 Visa gift xard. Simply fill out the card, cut along that perforated line, and drop it in the nearest mailbox. (Yup we took care of the postage.) Or, you can give us your feedback online by going to our website at www.skpresilience.org. All responses must be received by Aug. 21.

We all know that the past six months have been, well, hard. We as individuals are trying to do our best to keep it together for work, for our families, for our friends and even our pets. Through these struggles you may feel isolated, you may feel lost. That’s okay. We are here to remind you that beyond your opinion, you matter — that you are not alone because you are here and part of this amazing community. We want that message and more to get out to everyone.
