John D. Kosch

John Daniel Kosch, 72, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in Bullhead City, Ariz., after a short illness. He was born April 10, 1941, in Salem, Ohio, to John and Anna (Kucha) Kosch.

John lived in Bullhead City for more than three years and had lived in Homer for 40 years. He moved his family from Ohio to Alaska in 1972. John worked at many jobs; he crewed on a commercial fishing boat, managed the Homer Spit Campground, owned and operated a bed and breakfast, owned an ice cream shop, operated K’s Concrete and worked as a Realtor.

He loved getting involved in the city of Homer, where he served on the Homer City Council and the Homer Advisory Planning Commission. He also ran for mayor and served as president of Homer Senior Citizens Inc. He was a member of the Pioneers of Alaska, Homer Senior Citizen Center, Homer Elks and Bullhead City Elks.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy; daughter, Tami, and son-in-law Mike Nordin; cousin, Pauline Mehalik and husband Bill; sister-in-law, Eleanor Bartholomew; and nieces, Dona Young and Jill Papesh.

Graveside services were held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz. Arrangements were by Dimond & Sons Silver Bell Chapel, Bullhead City. Please visit mem.com to view photos and sign the guest book.
