The Alaska Legislature appropriated $3.6 million to the city as part of a transfer-of-ownership agreement to move the Homer Harbor into city hands. The city used the money to rebuild wooden harbor floats. Plans called for redoing six floats and Ramp 3. The city also looked at revising its harbor fees.

Six-year-old Toni Ginther found a note in a bottle on the shore of Mud Bay that said, “Help me. I’m being held captive in a cave at Bluff Point,” and signed by a local 7-year-old boy. A grown-up took the note to the Homer Police. Office Bill Geragotelis called the 7-year-old boy to see if he was being held against his will. He wasn’t.

“He said he dropped the note off the end of the Spit to see where it would end up,” Geragotelis said. “I told him it ended up at the police station.”

Homer Electric Association announced it will start a mobile repair service for all domestic household appliances. The program offered repairs throughout the HEA system, especially where local service wasn’t available.
