KBBI Public Radio General Manager Terry Rensel has resigned effective May 24, KBBI Board of Directors President Genie Hambrick said in a press release on May 1. Rensel will leave KBBI and Alaska to move to Virginia, where he has accepted a position in the field of historic preservation. Along with radio broadcasting, history has been a lifelong passion for Rensel, Hambrick said.

Rensel has worked at KBBI for 12 years, first as program manager in 2007 and then as general manager in 2016.

“Terry has played an essential role in the development and success of KBBI, and he’ll be greatly missed by the staff, board, and members, as well as his colleagues in public media in Alaska,” Hambrick said.

During the next month, KBBI’s Board of Directors will conduct a search to find a new General Manager. The job announcement will be posted on appropriate websites, and a search committee will be formed to select and interview candidates.

“Our priority is to find the best individual to lead KBBI as we work together to serve the community,” Hambrick said.
