Rebecca Lynn Monroe
Jan. 24, 1961 – Feb. 23, 2019
Rebecca Lynn Monroe, 57, a long-term resident of Homer, Alaska, died Feb. 23, 2019 in Medford, Oregon.
Born Jan. 24, 1961 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Lynn lived in Grants Pass until she and Eric moved to Homer. She had several hospitality jobs before working for First American Title for 11 years. She got her Realtors License in 2016 and was working at Bay Realty.
Lynn was known for her friendly smile, her living large laugh and her big heart of gold.
She loved Alaska and loved living in Homer.
Lynn really loved children and the kids would make a beeline for her when they came in the office. She was kind to people and was always ready to help someone in distress. She also had a soft spot for all animals and made sure Fred the Fish was fed properly.
Lynn’s own words from her Thanksgiving Facebook Post say it all:
“Hi I am Lynn Monroe
What I am Thankful for is the Earth and all it has to offer. You can travel, meet lots of new people from different cultures, hunt and fish or just enjoying the outdoors. I am also thankful for my husband and good friends. Living in such a beautiful place like Homer is amazing!! I love the ocean and fishing.”
Lynn will be missed by many. Her unconditional gifts to other were thoughtful and she will be remembered always.
Lynn was preceded in death by her father and step father.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Holland of Homer; mother, Sarah Rebecca Monroe Baily; and her brothers, Bryan Monroe and Mark Bailey of Grants Pass Oregon.
Memorial gifts in her name can be directed to Haven House of Homer and Homer Animal Friends.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday March 16, at the Down East Saloon to celebrate the fun-loving life of Lynn.
Pot luck dinners are encouraged in honor of Lynn; no onions please.
