Homer Police

Jan. 7

A caller at 8:30 a.m. made a Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately (REDDI) report on a vehicle at East Hill Road and Race Road, reporting that a motorist might need assistance. An officer went to the area but didn’t find the vehicle.

A caller at 10:28 a.m. reported people with possible drugs on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer was advised.

A caller at 10:54 a.m. reported receiving prank calls on Frisbee Court. An officer advised the caller of their options.

A caller at 11:17 a.m. reported a sexual assault that had happened in another state. An officer advised the caller.

Police at 12:14 p.m. got a 911 call with an open line an and heard yelling in the background. The caller stated it was an accidental dial. An officer went to the area of the call, Pioneer Avenue and Heath Street, but were unable to find anything.

A caller at 12:18 p.m. reported that a man would not leave on East Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the scene and found it was a civil issue.

A caller at 1:13 p.m. made a REDDI report that a truck with an unsecured load at East End road and Mariner Drive had lost trash that hit the caller’s car.

A caller at 3:17 p.m. reported a vehicle collision at Pioneer Avenue and Lake Street that had caused an injury and road blockage. Officers and medics went to the scene.

A caller at 7:56 p.m. asked for assistance removing family from property on West Bayview Avenue. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 9:28 p.m. reported multiple vehicles parked in the roadway on Klondike Avenue. An officer later patrolled the area and found all vehicles had been removed.

A security company at 9:40 p.m. reported a business alarm on Greatland Street. The registered owner later called to cancel police response. Officers went to the area and found everything was OK.

Jan. 8

A medical facility at 12:23 a.m. reported a possible assault victim on Bartlett Street. An officer responded.

A caller at 8:16 a.m. reported that an unwelcome man was in a relative’s apartment on Main Street and that they wanted him removed. An officer went to the scene to attempt to resolve the matter.

Jan. 9

An alarm company at 4:48 a.m. reported a burglary alarm on Spit Road. An officer responded and found the building was secure.

A caller at 11:38 a.m. reported that an unknown woman on the phone had requested assistance on Main Street. An officer went to the scene and transported the woman to the hospital.

A business at 5:19 p.m. reported a shoplifter on Lake Street. It was not known what was actually taken. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 8:29 p.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch at Klondike Avenue and Kachemak Way. An officer went to the location and arrested a 50-year-old woman for driving under the influence. She was taken to the Homer Jail.

Jan. 10

An officer at 8:43 a.m. warned a driver for their speed on the Sterling Highway.

A man at noon went to the police station to request a welfare check on a family member on Waddell Street. Officers went to the scene and advised the person of their options.

A caller at 1:20 p.m. reported a vehicle collision at Homer Bypass Road and Snowbird Street that had caused damage. An officer went to the scene.

An officer at 7:35 p.m. warned a driver for speed at East End Road and Kachemak Drive.

Jan. 11

A caller at 9:43 a.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch at Green Timbers Road and the Sterling Highway, but reported no injuries. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 10:35 a.m. reported an unattended death on Highland Drive. An officer went to the scene.

An officer at 2:45 p.m. provided traffic control for a disabled vehicle at Mattox Road and East End Road.

A security company at 3:45 p.m. reported a residential alarm on Knapp Circle. A person also called to report an accidental alarm activation. An officer went to the scene and found everything was OK.

A man at 1:20 p.m. went to the police station to report a civil dispute over a family member’s remains. An officer spoke with the man and explained their options. Both parties agreed to settle the matter.

A caller at 5:19 p.m. reported a vehicle collision at Lake Street and the Sterling Highway. An officer went to the location.

A woman at 6:15 p.m. went to the police station to report concern for an “ill-equipped” child walking in the roadway on Pioneer Avenue. An officer went to the area and contacted the child, and transported the child to a family friend for safety reasons.

Jan. 12

A caller at 8:50 a.m. requested a welfare check be made on a man on Mattox Road. Officers and medics went to the scene, and the man was transported to a medical facility.

A caller at 12:30 p.m. reported that an otter was on the beach near a parking lot on Spit Road. Officers notified the proper agency.

A caller at 1:22 p.m. had questions regarding motorcycles on Beluga Lake.

A caller at 7:15 p.m. reported an intoxicated man had fallen over in the middle of the roadway at Pioneer Avenue and Main Street. An officer responded but didn’t find the man.

A caller at 10:32 p.m. reported a man drinking in public on Ocean Drive Loop. Officers responded to the scene and issued the man a disorderly conduct warning.

An officer at 11:49 p.m. found a stolen vehicle on Main Street. The officer arrested a 33-year-old man for vehicle theft and took him to the Homer Jail. The vehicle was impounded.

An officer at 1:14 p.m. provided a citizen transportation on Pioneer Avenue.

Jan. 13

An officer at 8:16 a.m. gave a driver a traffic warning at East Fairview Avenue and East End Road.

An officer at 11:05 a.m. advised a person regarding domestic violence orders on Bartlett Street.

A caller at 7:24 p.m. reported their juvenile son as a runaway in the Homer area. Officers were to be on the lookout.

Jan. 14

A caller at 1:19 a.m. reported a suspicious circumstance at Pioneer Avenue ad Main Street. An officer went to the location and gave one man a trespass notice to keep him from the business in question.

A caller at 9:49 a.m. requested a welfare check be made on a family member in the Homer area. An officer advised the caller to call Alaska State Troopers and were to be on the lookout for the person.

An officer at 12:05 p.m. removed debris from the roadway at West Hill Road and the Sterling Highway.

An officer at 6:47 p.m. checked on an electronic monitoring client on Waddell Way.

An officer at 9:57 p.m. warned a driver at Mile 171 Sterling Highway for having expired registration.

An officer at 10:09 p.m. contacted a woman slumped over the wheel of her vehicle at Mile 168 Sterling Highway. She was cited for not having a valid operator’s license.

An officer at 11:01 p.m. checked on a person on Whispering Meadows Avenue in reference to an electronic monitoring tracker alert.

Jan. 15

A caller at 6:13 a.m. reported a possibly intoxicated person staggering in the roadway at Kachemak Drive and Arctic Tern Place. An officer went to the location and escorted the person to their home.

Troopers

Jan. 9

Alaska State Troopers at approximately 11 p.m. contacted a 33-year-old Ninilchik man near mile 170 of the Sterling Highway and arrested him on two outstanding warrants for burglary in the second degree, criminal mischief in the fifth degree, theft in the fourth degree, and criminal trespass in the second degree. The man was remanded to Homer Jail without incident.

Jan. 12

Alaska State Troopers at approximately 10 p.m. contacted a man during a traffic stop. On contact, the man provided a false name and fled the scene on foot. He was subsequently arrested on his outstanding warrant as well as charged with providing false information to a peace officer and disorderly conduct. The man was remanded to Homer Jail without further incident.
