Spiritrails visits in April
Spiritrails, a two-man show of hip-hop theater, visits Homer on April 11, 14, 15 and 16. Spiritrials fuses theater, hip hop and spoken word to address issues of racial profiling and discriminatory sentencing within the American criminal justice system. Accompanied onstage by DJ Dion Decibels, creator/performer Dahlak Braithwaite is an African-American everyman whose average behaviors and pretty-good intentions provoke outsize reactions on the part of the police, prompting him to reflect about his place in the world and in our society. Spiritrials performs at 7:30 p.m. April 14 and 15 and 5 p.m. April 16 at Bunnell Street Arts Center. Tickets are $10-20 sliding admission. Parental discretion is advised. They also present a lecture, “Adapting History,” on April 11 at Fireweed Academy/West Homer Elementary.
