Jan. 8

Alaska State Troopers at 4:35 p.m. went to an industrial accident on Timmerman Court near Diamond Ridge Road. Kachemak Emergency Services medics also responded and found a Homer Electric Association lineman, a 33-year-old Anchor Point man, had suffered an electrical shock. The man was conscious and alert but had significant injuries. Two coworkers provided him with life-saving medical care before medics arrived. KES medics took the man to South Peninsula Hospital where he was stabilized before being flown from the Homer Airport to Seattle for further medical treatment. The other two HEA linemen were not injured.

Jan. 9

Troopers at 8:16 a.m. went to a report of a burglary in progress at a Ptarmigan Heights home in Homer. Troopers contacted several suspects at the home and found a drinking party with underage people. Troopers arrested a 27-year-old Homer man on four counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor and two counts of contributing to delinquency of a minor. They also arrested a 19-year-old Homer man for sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, marijuana, and violating conditions of release. A 15-year-old boy was referred to the Division of Juvenile Justice for first-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief.

Jan. 10

Troopers at 2:06 p.m. went to a single-car crash near Mile 164.5 Sterling Highway. Troopers said a 59-year-old Homer man driving a 2001 Ford F250 pickup truck with a trailer jackknifed. The trailer hit the rear of the truck and pushed it off the road. The man was not injured, but the truck had $3,000 in damage.

Jan. 11

Bureau of Highway Patrol troopers at 3:28 a.m. stopped a 46-year-old Homer man driving a 2001 Ford Ranger near Mile 2 Kalifornsky Beach Road. Troopers said he did not have the required ignition interlock device installed. He was issued a misdemeanor citation and released.

Highway Patrol troopers at 6:40 p.m. went to a moose-car collision near Mile 96.5 Sterling Highway in Soldotna. Troopers said a 32-year-old Anchor Point woman driving south in a 1992 Ford pickup truck hit a moose when it ran in front of her. The woman wore her seatbelt and was not injured. The truck had minor damage. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
