Homer High School
Volleyball: The volleyball teams will compete at Grace Christian School at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13. On Saturday, Oct. 14, the teams will play at Seward at 11 a.m., noon and 1:30 p.m.
Football: The varsity football team will compete in the Division III State Championship game in Palmer, against Barrow, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Swim/Dive: The swim and dive teams will compete in Palmer today, Friday, Oct. 13 and Saturday, Oct. 14.
Wrestling: The wrestling team will compete at Kenai at 10:30 a.m.

Homer High School
Volleyball: The Homer High School varsity volleyball team participated in a tournament at Grace Christian School over the weekend, with Friday made up of pool play. On Saturday, Oct. 7, the team made it into the middle bracket where there were a total of 16 teams. The Mariners took third in that bracket, called the gold bracket, and ninth place overall out of the 16 teams. The Mariners lost against Monroe Catholic 23-25, and 16-19, when the game timed out and ended play. The team came back and won against Grace Christian 25-23, 21-25 and 5-2. The players also triumphed over Houston 25-22 and 25-14 before losing to Nikiski 18-25 and 9-25.
Football: The varsity football team defeated Ben Eielson High School on the playoff game on Saturday, Oct. 7 at home, winning 33-21. The Mariners lead the game against the Ravens 21-0 at the half. Sophomore Noah Fisk scored three of the team’s five touchdowns, running in the first one of the game for a 2-yard gain. He was followed by senior Joe Ravin, who scored on a 75-yard pass from quarterback Teddy Croft. Fisk scored the third touchdown with another 2-yard gain. Overall, Homer had 160 passing yards to Eielson’s 90, but 295 rushing yards to Eielson’s 311. Fisk led the Mariners for total tackles with 13, followed by Croft and Chris Cudaback with 10 each. Eielson made 44 total tackles compared to Homer’s 78. Brown lead the tackling for the Ravens with 10, followed by junior Jaydenn Manibusan with eight.
Swim/Dive: The Homer swim and dive team hosted Soldotna High School in a dual meet on Friday, Oct. 6. SoHi beat the Mariners for both girls and boys. For the girls, the Stars won 106 to 73 and for the boys they won 100 to 58.
