‘Shoot for the Stars’ picnic

scholarship fundraiser Friday

A fundraiser picnic lunch and concert is noon-2 p.m. Friday at Bear Creek Winery Garden.

Bring a blanket to spread on the lawn while enjoying delicious halibut fish and chips and listening to live music by Brazilian musician Juan M. Soria. Water and rhubarb lemonade also will be provided.

Wine may be purchased and drank in the winery tasting room.

All proceeds go to the Diane Wambach “Shoot for the Stars” scholarship fund through the Homer Foundation. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student on the lower Kenai Peninsula who has overcome adversity and is in the pursuit of furthering their education to fulfill their life’s dream.

“Our mom always encouraged us to shoot for the stars, and it has made all the difference,” Wambach’s family said. “Please help us support and encourage another young person to shoot for the stars.”

Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at the Homer Bookstore or by calling Cheryl at 299-2767. Make checks payable to The Homer Foundation.
