The Homer Climbing Competition will be Saturday at the Bay Club. It is open to all ages.

The annual event is hosted by HoWL, Homer Wilderness Leaders. Pre-registration before Saturday is $30; participants can go to the HoWL website at howlalaska.org to register.

Competitors from throughout Alaska will participate in multiple categories of competition in this USA Climbing local event.

Competitors must arrive a half hour before their competition category begins:

• 10:30 a.m. is the recreational category for top-rope competitors.

• 12:30 p.m. is the open category for lead climbers.

• 2:30 p.m. is the fun category for kids.

The top climbers in every category will receive trophies and all climbers and volunteers will be entered for door prizes donated by local sponsors, national climbing sponsors and REI. Results will be submitted to USA Climbing. Costumes are encouraged.

There will be event T-shirts for sale at the Bay Club.
