Philip John Christensen

Philip John Christensen, 42, died peacefully in his sleep in Anchorage on the afternoon of Dec. 24, 2017.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at 4 p.m. March 3, 2018, at the Best Western Bidarka Inn in Homer. Another service will be held in Anchorage at a later date.
Phil was born Feb. 24, 1975, in Portland, Oregon, to Martha Christensen and Walter “Chris” Christensen Sr.
In June 1979 the family moved to Juneau, and then in 1984 Phil moved to Wasilla with his father. He graduated from Wasilla High School in 1994. After graduating high school, he then went to school at Tongue Point, which is the IBU Maritime Training Center in Astoria, Oregon. In 1997 Phil received his AB unlimited and Q.M.E.D. He then went to work for the Alaska Marine Highway System, and worked on the M/V Tustumena for 10 years.
In later years he worked for APL on container ships out of the Persian Gulf. This part of his life took him to places all over the world like Dubai. Most recently he worked for Norwegian Cruise lines out of Hawaii. He also worked on various fishing vessels over the years. He was truly a talented and amazing engineer, and most at peace in life when at sea and in the engine room.
Phil had one true love in his life, his daughter Sadie. She was his true pride and joy in life; he was so very proud of her.
He was the type of person who would have given his shirt off his back to anyone. He had many friends around the world, and left a lasting impression on everyone. Phil was the person to make you laugh and put a smile on your face. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Cindy Christensen of Anchorage.
He is survived by his mother, Martha Christensen of Homer; father, Chris Christensen of Anchorage; daughter, Sadie Blake and her mother Linka Blake, of Homer; brother, Walter and wife Danielle Christensen; nephew, Aiden Arno, and nieces Erica White and Kaitlyn White of Homer; sister, Megan Christensen-Lochmaier; nieces, Caitlin Christensen-Gamble and Gabriella Christensen-Lochmaier of Puyallup, Washington; sister, Laurel and her husband Keith Stevens of Galton, Tennessee; niece, Alexis Mcfarland and her son Ivan Mcfarland of Lakewood, Washington, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
