Linda Richardson, 65, died peacefully on Nov. 5, 2013, in Homer. She was born on Dec. 5, 1947, in Aurora, Ill., the second child of Marjorie L. Richardson and James G. Richardson. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Dubuque, Iowa, where five additional children were born and raised. In 1963 the family moved to Florida. Her years in Iowa were filled with fun, horseback riding, water skiing on the Mississippi River, and getting into mischief with friends and all of her cousins. Linda finished high school in Miami, attended the University of Missouri, and completed her education with a bachelor of fine arts from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, Calif. 

“She was an artist through and  through and used her artistic eye to guide her in the antique business in Petaluma, Calif. She eventually relocated to Fairbanks in 1985. In 1987 she  moved to Homer, and settled into her serious creative painting activities. Her works have been shown in many galleries in Alaska and elsewhere, and  collected by many. Like Linda, her work was full of color, action, life and was often unconventional, but always made an impression. Linda was a force to be reckoned with and didn’t let  anything get in her way,” her family said.

Linda is survived by her mother, Marjorie L. Richardson; her three  children, Danielle Aurora Richardson, Christopher Richardson and Audrey  Richardson Tomasini; her grandchild, Keana Alani Tomasini; three sisters, Geraldine R. Brinton, Marjorie Richardson and Barbara R. Carpenter; her brother, J. Dennis Richardson; and a niece and six nephews.

“Her infectious smile, her sense of humor, her enthusiasm for life and the fun she created around her will always be remembered by her family and many, many friends,” her family said.
