Ninilchik resident, Mr. Daniel “Dano” Joseph Halvorson, Sr., 47, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at South Peninsula Hospital in Homer.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Halvorson was born Jan. 24, 1967, in Wheaton, Minn. Approximately three months after his birth, his family moved to Fergus Falls, Minn., and remained there until he graduated. He attended Lincoln and McKinley Elementary Schools in Minnesota before graduating from Fergus Falls Sr. High School in 1986. He has remained in Alaska ever since. Dan loved hunting, fishing, auto mechanics, car racing, hockey and especially being able to help others while asking nothing in return.
The family wrote, “He will be remembered for his compassion of people, especially the elderly, children and animals, and his sense of pride and integrity. He will be missed immensely by family and friends.”
