Alaska State Troopers at 5:10 p.m. went to a car crash near Mile 162 Sterling Highway in Anchor Point. Troopers said a 69-year-old Soldotna woman driving south in a 2002 GMC Yukon lost control of her car, crossed the northbound lane, went through a guard rail and stopped in the Anchor River. An Alaska Wildlife Trooper saw the crash and got the woman out of the car. She wore her seat belt and was uninjured. Troopers cited her for speeding.
Troopers at 10:45 a.m. went to a Norwegian Woods Road home to assist the Office of Children’s Services in investigating a report of harm. Troopers contacted a 30-year-old Anchor Point man and arrested him on a $5,000 warrant.
Troopers at 6 p.m. contacted the drivers of two cars stopped and partially blocking the northbound lane near Mile 147 Sterling Highway. Following an investigation, troopers arrested a 33-year-old Anchor Point man for felony driving under the influence, driving while license revoked and driving in violation of limitation. The man also had his 2-year-old son in the car and was charged with first-degree child endangerment. Troopers cited the driver of the other car, a 21-year-old Anchor Point woman, for driving while license revoked and driving in violation of limitations. The woman’s license was revoked for a previous DUI conviction.

At 4:43 p.m. a 46-year-old Kenai man driving north in a 1995 Dodge pickup truck near Milepost 145 Sterling Highway tried to pass a car in front of him and crossed the center lane toward an oncoming 2013 Ford Explorer patrol car driven by an Alaska State Trooper. The trooper tried to take evasive action, but the Dodge truck spun out of control and hit the driver’s side of the Ford. The trooper had minor injuries and was taken to South Peninsula Hospital by EMTs and later released. The Dodge driver and his two passengers did not report injuries. Seatbelts were worn by all people involved. Troopers said they did not suspect impairment was a factor. The Bureau of Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The trooper patrol car had major damage.
