Sen. Lisa Murkowski announced Tuesday the names of her 10 first-session summer interns that will work in Murkowski’s Washington, D.C., office. Alfonso Sitenga of Homer is among those named. Others include Lyndsey Brollini, Nicole Eldred and Mckenzie Stepovich of Anchorage; Dierdre Creed of Kotzebue; Emily Hartley of Talkeetna; Austin Ramsay of Ketchikan; Michaela Spaulding of Fairbanks; Rachel Tougas of Seward; and Maria Villa of North Pole.
“Being a Senate intern years ago instilled in me a deep respect and appreciation for service to Alaskans and the importance of influencing federal policy through Congress when it can help out the state,” said Murkowski in a press release. “I am excited to invite these energetic young leaders of tomorrow, introduce them to the United States Senate process and learn from them about their perspectives on the issues facing our state.”
Murkowski’s summer intern coordinators are Kendall Eilo of Anchorage and Benjamin Gilman of Kenai. They will supervise and counsel the summer interns in partnership with members of Murkowski’s staff.
