Mary Lou Langham

July 27, 1953 – March 18, 2018

Longtime Alaskan and Homer resident, Mary Lou Langham, 63, died on March 18, 2018.

She passed away at her yurt home after a swing in the hammock of cancer, her family said.

Mary was born July 27, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio. In her education, she received her bachelor degree in chemistry, a master degree in creative writing and her doctorate in osteopathic medicine.

She moved in Alaska in 1972 and lived in Fairbanks and Talkeetna before moving to Homer. She received the award of volunteer of the year from Homer Council on the Arts.

Her family wrote, “The love of learning brought Mary through a broad artistic landscape of music, dance, clowning, visual arts and theatre. As a mover and shaker, she co-founded Talkeetna’s Green Light Circus and Talkeetna Hockey Association, both now 25-year-old programs running strong. Her plays have been produced across Alaska and her poetry and short stories have appeared in literary magazines across the country. Stay tuned for her soon to be published novel …”

Mary is survived by her husband, Daniel E. Wysocki of Homer; sons, Seth Crump of Olympia, Washington, Coire Langham of Big Island, Hawaii and Tyler Langham of Homer; and daughter, Morgan Langham, who is a gypsy.
