The community spirit and generosity that exists within this community is touching and always something to behold. Time after time, the people, businesses and organizations step up and respond to the diverse and seemingly endless causes, needs and requests that require our attention. Even when resources and energy might be low, people continue to answer when called upon.  

The 22nd Share The Spirit spaghetti feed was again a reflection of that shared spirit. Volunteers, too numerous to mention, came from everywhere to prepare and serve to the hundreds of guests who came to the Elks Lodge and deliver hundreds more to the local businesses and organizations that ordered to go. Entertainment was provided throughout the day by the Homer High Swing Choir, Sally and Oceana Wills, The Devils Club Orchestra and Kevin Duff and Kari Odden.

The door and raffle prizes along with the food donations came from all over the community.  A special thanks to Alyeska Tire, The Bagel Shop, Center for Alaskan Coastal Studies, Dimond Center Hotel, Forget Me Not Flowers, Homer Bookstore, Homer Hounds, Homer Saw and Cycle, Homer Theatre, Homer’s Jeans, Johanna and Doug Fraiman, Jakalof Oyster Company, Merry Gregg, Nancy Wise, Nomar, Joe Mello, Jayne Locklar, Northwind, Radio Shack, The Art Shop Gallery, The Grog Shop, Timeless Toys,

Heartfelt gratitude to all these businesses, organizations, volunteers and to those of you who supported Share The Spirit in any way this year. Because of you, dozens of families will have a Christmas that didn’t seem possible, and there will be smiles on the faces of many children.  It is a privilege and a blessing to be part of such a wonderful and giving community.
