Hospice, HCOA collaborate show

Hospice of Homer held its annual Remembrance Celebration Sunday, Sept. 27. The event provided community members a special time to come together and honor their loved ones. It is always meaningful for hospice to provide this opportunity.

I want to thank the following people and businesses for their support. Thank you to Hospice of Homer Chaplin Bob Redmond for his authentic and kind words of support; to Sunrise Sjoberg and Tim Quinn for the lovely music; to Two Sisters for the treats to celebrate the continued sweetness of life; and Safeway for the beautiful red roses.

In November the Homer Council on the Arts, in collaboration with Hospice of Homer, is sponsoring a gallery show with the theme of “Loss.” Community members are invited to submit an admission form for a piece of art to be in the show to HCOA by Oct. 12. Artwork is due to the council by Oct. 26.

Loss, as expressed through art, is open to many interpretations. The art piece can be serious or silly. Sculpture, photography, painting, collage, etc. — all are welcome. Artists may submit single works or small collections with the “Loss” theme.

Please call HOH at 235-6899 or HCOA at 235-4288 with questions about the November art show.

Warm Regards,

 Darlene Hilderbrand, executive director
